Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using feet, although other parts of the body except the arms and hands can be used, with the exception of the goalkeeper who can use their hands within the penalty area. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). It is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with millions of players and fans, and is overseen internationally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). The sport is known for its competitive nature and is characterized by its cultural significance in various countries, often serving as a source of national pride. Football includes various formats, such as association football, futsal, and others, but typically refers to the eleven-a-side format recognized internationally.
